A lovely stay in a great location with a delicious breakfast .

Pros: Good location and very quiet rooms. Plenty of parking on the doorstep. Lots of thoughtful touches to make it welcoming such as lovely shortbread in our room, helpful chats about where to visit on the island and coming back after a cold day out to the lamps on in our room and the curtains closed . Breakfast was freshly cooked and was great we could pick exactly what we wanted. Bathroom was spotless.

Cons: Our double room was quite small (although it had been well thought out to cleverly include space for clothing and tea making facilities ) - so not really a criticism!

Pros: Very welcoming and polite, I asked for a earlier breakfast which not a problem at all. Lovely room, clean and warm, everything you would need for a overnight stay was there. Very happy/rested man

Fantastic location, facilities and breakfast!

Pros: The Trout Fly Guest House is an excellent base for exploring Islay. The rooms and en-suites are clean, cosy and comfortable, and the check-in/out process is easy and relaxed. Niall is an exceptional host who goes above and beyond for all his guests. Breakfast is also phenomenal. I would heartily recommend the Trout Fly to everyone booking accommodation in Islay.

Wonderful short stay in Port Ellen.

Pros: The stay was lovely. Such a warm welcome, amazing breakfast and room was lovely. The shortbread in the room to have with coffee was delicious and a wee fridge was really appreciated. Our room wasn't ensuite but the bathroom was for our use only and huge so wasn't an issue.

Cons: Nothing.

Pros: Very helpful hosts, catering to our needs. Cean, warm, and spacious room.

If staying in Port Ellen, would hope I could stay here again.

Pros: Host was a font of useful information and also tried to pre-empt possible concerns before they happened. Clearly wanted you to enjoy your stay and avoid any pitfalls of staying on a an island.

Cons: All good, no complaints.

Pros: We had a great time at the Trout Fly Guesthouse. It was clean, the Rooms look really nice and are well equipped, the Bathrooms are modern and roomy and the hosts are just great people all around. The trout fly is located in the middle of Port Ellen, close to some good Restaurants and bars and the 4 (soon to be 5) southern distilleries on islay. The price per night is (as anywhere on islay) not exactly cheap, but since it includes a phenomenal breakfast I'd say it's pretty fair and might even be the best value for money you're going to get on the island.

Cons: We had a room with a separate bathroom - it's the only one, the other rooms come with ensuite bathrooms - which was alright and overall didn't really bother us, but is something to take note of when booking a room. Also, the mattress only gets a B- for comfort. It's alright, but not the best. Overall I can wholeheartedly recommend the trout fly to just about anybody looking for a good stay on islay.
