An enjoyable experience.

Pros: The staff were first class. There was a warmth of attitude, lots of smiles and an interest in their guests. The young waiters were a pleasure to speak to.

Cons: There was no extractor fan in the bathroom so the mirror teamed up .

Pros: The location is great as it is the surrounding woodland. The staff was amazing and super friendly.

Cons: The food we ordered was not really good and lacked a bit of love and care.

A beautiful Borders castle stay, with delicious dinner and thoughtful, attentive staff service.

Pros: Dinner was excellent (highly recommend the slab-cooked steak), with friendly and helpful staff making our evening a thoroughly enjoyable experience, especially as we had a long wait between course due to busy dinner service and were comp'd delicious cocktails. The grounds are beautiful, especially with a snowy morning walk to the the Great Polish Map of Scotland - well worth a visit. As we were combining Valentine's with a celebration for my husband's 50th, I was also very appreciative of the hotel's thoughtful birthday card in our room upon arrival.

Cons: Sadly we did not get a very good night's sleep as all the pillows in our room were hard as bricks (we let reception know, so they were going to review). Also the desk lamps are wired to the room's ceiling light, so can't have only the small lamp on for softer lighting, which was a real shame for relaxing. It would have been nice to have some bottled water in the room too.

Pros: I always enjoy my stay at the Barony the staff are most welcoming plus my granddaughter just loves the pool

Cons: That there was a wedding fare on and had difficulty parking as it was so busy and had a lot of luggage don't travel light with a granddaughter and it was heavy snow

Very, very helpful staff and a great place to stay.

Pros: Fabulous location not far from Edinburgh. The Castle looks impressive and is set in beautiful grounds which can be walked around. The Polish relief map of Scotland in the hotel grounds is also impressive. The meals were served promptly and the food was good. Breakfast was excellent.

Cons: Nothing really. Some of the interiors are more modern than others which have a bit of wear and tear- but nothing much.
