The Lane Hotel

A wonderful find in Morningside!

Pros: Our room in The Lane Hotel was very comfortable - clean, warm and with a huge bed and two cosy armchairs. The decor was modern and lovely even though in an old building. Great bathroom - huge with two sinks, a bath and an extremely good separate shower. The hotel is attached to The Canny Man’s pub and breakfast there was included in our stay - a wonderfully quirky location with delightful staff and great food. The full Scottish Breakfast was huge and beautifully cooked. The hotel is in Morningside so out of the centre but it’s on a main bus route and the buses are extremely frequent and reasonable. Morningside itself is delightful to wander around with lots of interesting shops.

Outstanding experience

Pros: We had an excellent stay at this wonderful boutique hotel. We we were visiting Scotland for 2 weeks and our 5 night stay here was quite simply the best.

Cons: We loved everything. Faultless

Pros: They upgraded our room by 2 levels to the suite - biggest room

Hidden gem

Pros: The room was beautiful and spacious, not too far from the city centre and lots of shops and cafés around. Staff were lovely

Cons: The only issue was that we booked bed and breakfast but the breakfast was not available in the morning due to a kitchen issue.

Cons: Difficult to find, far from city centre Arrived late due to delayed flight and found accidentally how to get in as there were no instructions sent to me

Pros: Great staff, nice pub attached to hotel, first drinks in the pub included in the cost of the room and complementary Irn Bru with the tea and coffee was a nice touch. Free parking right next to hotel was great. Smooth check in and check out.

Cons: Shower flooded the bathroom floor a bit and sink plug didn’t work. Though this didn’t really hinder the stay.

Highly recommend

Pros: Exceptionally welcoming and helpful staff. Room well furnished, comfy bed, great shower and quality toiletries provided.

Pros: The hotel is in a nice and quiet area and it is only 15 minutes bus ride to the city center. There are several local supermarkets and restaurants within walking distance as well. Staff were quite accommodating as well.

Cons: Unfortunately, we were unable to visit the pub due to mandatory maintenance work. This was beyond anyone’s control.

Pros: Had a lovely 2 night stay. Very impressed with both room and location

Cons: The bed was very comfortable and room very beautifully decorated. It was a lovey walk into the centre with plenty of lovely local shops and restaurants

Hidden gem!

Pros: Attention to detail. Huge room. Fabulous old style high ceilings and features maintained. Comfortable. Clean. Luxurious bathroom.

Cons: Suggest a shelf near the sink for toiletries.
