The Valentine - Townhouse Hotel is located in Edinburgh city centre at the South-West corner of the historic Old Town. Edinburgh Castle and other top attractions are within a 15-minute walk. Free WiFi is available in all rooms. Built in 1813, the historic property offers accommodation situated over 4 floors accessed by stairs only. It is not a modern 'glass and steel structure', but a traditional stone built property. Rooms feature a digital TV, hairdryer, shower-room, heating, and street views over our gardens. Irons, scales and umbrellas are available upon request. The Valentine is situated within walking distance of all city centre attractions, including restaurants, shops, pubs, and cinemas. Edinburgh International Conference Centre is just a 10-minute walk away. This room-only property has no reception or meal options, but staff are present during each day to service the rooms, there are many breakfast options nearby. Most guests use a simple coded self-entry process for arrivals, especially helpful for late evening flights, with backup staff available of course by phone or in person in case of emergency The Valentine is located in the city centre of Edinburgh. We strive to provide our guests with a great experience, allowing them to explore the rich history of the city, while simultaneously providing them with comfort and cleanliness within a piece of Edinburgh's history. In 1813, a Georgian town house had no running water, but all rooms (with the exception of Superior King Size with Separate Bathroom) are now of course ensuite or with private bathrooms. These facilities are generally sufficient rather than ample, our guests choose this property to be immersed in the historic culture of the city rather than for room size and sterile building design. We can't wait to welcome you and provide your ideal base for your Edinburgh stay!

Would definitely book again

Pros: My room was lovely. Such a comfortable bed! and a lovely view of the church and garden. I was on the top floor so managed to work off some calories. It’s close to some very lovely restaurants and a fantastic French bakery so no need to worry about breakfast.

Cons: The middle set of stairs is a bit spooky.

Everything was great! No issues :)

Pros: Really loved our stay there! The room was small but it had everything we needed. The location is great, it’s about 15 minutes walk to the centre. The staff was so nice and helpful, really amazing! We could leave our luggage at the hotel after the checkout, so we could explore the city some more before our flight home. No compaints, thank you for having is, it was great! 😊

Pros: Rooms are lovely decorated, very spacious and modern look! The townhouse building is a historical gem, the neighbourhood is lively with many coffee and brunch places.

Cons: A fire alarm went off around 6am. Not their fault, probably a guest that smoked inside, but because there is no 24/7 staff, the guests had to call the fireman, organise the room checks, etc. Not an ideal situation since none of us know the city.

Perfect stay for a solo trip

Pros: I liked the position and the green view from my room. I appreciated the kettle and tea available. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I also appreciated the position and the possibility to store the luggage after checking out

Cons: Nothing, for those who say that the building needs the elevator I recommend to go visit Edinburgh castle before, so you can train for stairs and appreciate the historical vibe better

Good location and friendly staff

Pros: Nice clean room and a friendly staff. Short walking distance to the Edinburgh castle etc.

Cons: Room could have more space to put your clothes etc. We were three in the room, only 5 hangers. Maybe somekind of a wall hanger to put jackets etc. Also the bathroom was lacking space to put your toiletries, shower gels etc. Small fridge would be nice :-) The \

Pros: We were a bit sceptic seeing the outside of the building but it was a pleasant surprise. Clean and tidy , modern bathroom and a sense for details making your stay comfortable. We were running away from the previous very disgusting hotel, so it was a blessing to find this place. Walking distance to the old town, lots of pubs around, clean and good price for Edinburgh!

Comfortable and clean room. Facilities downstairs in reception are minimal.

Pros: Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was big enough for four with a nice clean bathroom. Enjoyed the complimentary coffee. Location good as not too central where it would be loud. And access to bus stops right outside.

Cons: Bag storage when you cannot check in is out in the open and doesn’t feel very secure. Nowhere private by reception to get changed after checking out and being out all day.

A gorgeous hotel with friendly staff in the heart of the city.

Pros: The rooms were immaculate and very comfortable. Good, well-connected location too and noise levels were low given it was still in the city centre. Early check-in time meant we could drop our bags off before exploring the city.

Cons: The showers were slightly small and little space in the bathrooms.
