The Ugadale Hotel

Comfortable and friendly

Pros: Views, location, furniture and furnishings, friendly staff, quiet, private. We had excellent view and spacious room.

Cons: Car park surfacing needs improvement, room freshment in mornings was poor (towels taken but not replaced, teas and milk not updated) as staffing was low, we assume due to out-of-season.

When golfing on Machrihanish, the place to be

Pros: Super friendly staff, lovely spacious room with sea view and perfect shower. Nice pub next door.

Cons: Breakfast was average

Pros: Can't fault anything except the food. Restaurant service was very very slow and food was 6/10 at best. The hotel and rooms were lovely though

Pleasant short stay with friendly and helpful staff.

Pros: Very friendly and welcoming members of staff who provided information on the local area; much appreciated. Comfortable bar and breakfast area, the breakfast being typically Scottish, which was good. Nice walk along the beach across the road!

Cons: Obviously as the hotel is located a few miles outside of Campbeltown we needed to drive the short distance into the town, so if visiting Campletown need to be aware that there is very little around the hotel.

Pros: Lovely quiet location. Traditional hotel with modern feel.

Cons: WiFi was poor on the upper floors.

Argyll's Buckingham Palace

Pros: The staff are friendly and helpful. A continental breakfast includes a hot drinks machine, sliced bread, pastry, fresh juice and fruit, cheese, milk, yoghurt and cereal, with hot food like Lorne sausage or salmon. The rooms are clean and have complementary bottled water, tea, coffee and hot chocolate, and bath robes. Laundry service is performed to an excellent standard. The shower is beautiful like the bedroom, and has towels, some shower gel and conditioner.

Cons: The hotel is in Argyll, a remote location and difficult to reach or leave. Guests should arrange transport well in advance of their stay if they are coming from outside of Argyll or Scotland. A small airport takes passengers to and from Glasgow, and a shuttle service by land may be available. Ferry services by sea do not always operate. Those travelling in their own vehicle should prepare for a long journey. Dining is not included but may be available by reservation, or in the Old Clubhouse pub next door.

Great for Golfers

Pros: Location. Its across the road from Machrihanish Championship Course but not all rooms offer a view of the course.

Cons: The tea tray is kept in the closet and once you bring it out you can only use it on the floor.

Pros: Have visited many times and appreciate the hotel’s comfort and the warm and professional staff.

Pros: The Victorian atmosphere , the relaxed feeling. The view onto the sea, the friendly staff. The design of the pub and great food there . Nice looking cottages to stay in
