The Lagg

Wonderful Place to Discover.

Pros: An excellent place to stay on Arran, but having a car to travel around the island is a must. Being south of the island it was quite quiet. The staff were excellent, really lovely people. The food in the restaurant for dinner and the breakfast in the morning was of a very high quality. You can DJ in the bar if you ask nicely, a very good range of music.

Cons: The wi-fi reception in our room was non-existent, however the hotel is well aware of the problem, and it is trying to improve the situation for everyone. You can find areas around the hotel to get a decent reception, it was adequate for my needs.

Warm friendly hotel

Pros: Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good - warm food and good portion sizes. The hotel is oldy worldly, with lovely gardens and very tranquil.

Cons: WiFi was limited.

Pros: Staff were so friendly and helpful, made us feel relaxed and cared for !

Cons: That we were only there for 2 nights

Excellent comfortable stay and very welcoming to late arrivals.

Pros: The location was excellent. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and offered excellent service.

Cons: I would have liked a wider range of lighter breakfast options - maybe smoked salmon and scrambled eggs or smashed avocado.

Beer and red squirrels

Pros: Beautiful location and very friendly staff, restaurant and bar. Generous breakfast. Chance to see red squirrels! Bus stop right outside.

Pros: A lovely old historic building. The room was spacious and comfortable and the staff were very friendly. We had a good breakfast

Pros: The Lagg is a beautiful old building with comfortable bedrooms, sitting room & conservatory. The bar attached to The Lagg has a lot of character, games area & wonderful gardens.

Cons: We loved everything

Pros: Friendly staff, good size room, nice breakfast, nice evening meal, good location for Arran way walkers.

Cons: I know the owners are fairly new and will get on top of upgrading facilities when they can. All working and bath was welcome but in need of an upgrade.

As a solo traveller, I felt very much at home at The Lagg

Pros: Hotel was in a lovely quiet, picturesque location. It was like stepping back in time. Staff were all very courteous, friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Food was delicious and piping hot. My bed was so comfortable. Thank you

Cons: Single glazed windows a wee bit drafty and staff very loud underneath my window. All sounds from other guests loud and clear !! People talking outside my room and banging doors woke me at 6.30am !! Some background music in the breakfast room and restaurant would be nice. A change of bathroom towel. All minor things, but if fixed, could make a big difference
