Islay Frigate Hotel

excellent customer service

Pros: There was an issue with the booking, but the manager was excellent and when above and beyond to resolve the situation, excellence customer support.

Cons: The weather, but that's not the hotel's fault

Great place, useful if working in the local area, or just on a holiday.

Pros: Manager is very flexible, and a genuinely nice person. Bar is lively, full of friendly people in an other wise quiet town.

Excellent value and ticked the boxes

Pros: For what I needed the accommodation for it was ideal. Room was clean, TV and tea/cofffee making facilities. Breakfast was very good and plentiful.

Cons: Shared bathroom facilities but I knew this when booking and they were more than adequate for a one night stay.

Would recommend especially for cycling groups.

Pros: We were there on a cycling trip, we were impressed with the cycling storage and security. The barman was very friendly and we had an easy late check in. Great location with amazing views of the harbour.

Cons: No breakfast available but we went to a lovely cafe 3 minutes away.

Travelling on the west coast of Scotland and catching a late ferry from islay.

Pros: Really friendly staff, breakfast was very nice huge selection both Scottish, and continental.

Cons: No wash basin in room, that's all.

A comfortable, well located hotel with friendly staff.

Pros: Breakfast splendid, generous helpings. Vegetarian menu suited me. Service friendly and attentive. Because of late running ferry I couldn't check in till after 23.00, but phoned in advance and place kept open.

Cons: I knew that I was getting a small room with shared bathroom, so no complaints. There was no wash basin in my room, but I could use the shared bathroom/shower room. My room on second floor was up steep stairs - this might be a problem for anyone with mobility problem. There is no lift.

Nice place and friendly staff

Pros: Great location, friendly staff, nice, clean rooms.

Cons: We booked a small double bedroom and it was really tiny, my friend paid only £10 more and had a really good size bedroom.

Pros: So beautiful, would have stayed longer. Staff were fantastic. Room was bigger than I imagined. 10/10

A nice and friendly stopover on our way to Islay

Pros: We were welcomed in quite a friendly way at the Islay Frigate even though the news we then got was slightly disappointing (see below), but we received very adequate compensation. The room we stayed in was, though tiny, clean and had such amenities as TV (which we didn't use) and hospitality tray. There was a fun fair going on right in front of the hotel, but they stopped at 11pm and we slept very well. Breakfast was fine and staff were always friendly.

Cons: Our stay at the Islay Frigate was overshadowed by the fact that the king size/en suite room that we had booked was in fact unavailable when we arrived. The reason was explained to us and quite understandable, but we would have liked to have been informed in advance that we would have to share the bathroom with five other people.
