Rowardennan Hotel is accessible, yet remote. It is an hour from Glasgow, but located at the foot of Ben Lomond (974 metres high) and encircled by woodland. The hotel's Clansman bar serves hearty meals. A nice surprise

Pros: I had low expectations due to other reviews but I think they might have had a recent refirb as my expectations were exceeded. My room was really comfortable, bathroom spacious, all clean. Nice toiletries and good power from the shower. Breakfast was great - vegan full breakfast which was fab. Also the location is amazing - unmatched. Perfect west highland way stop.

Cons: The bit that wasn’t as clean was the seat in my room - visible stains, but I didn’t use it so it didn’t bother me that much. The reception staff were fantastic, however the woman on the bar who was then also at breakfast didn’t want to be there, was on her phone with people waiting. A bit of a shame as everyone else was lovely.

Great place to stay near Loch Lomond

Pros: Beautiful location near the lake and main trail up to Ben Lomond. Cosy rooms with comfortable beds and great heating which is really nice in winter. Hearty cooked breakfast with several choices and lovely ambiance of the restaurant.

A lovely short break

Pros: Location is superb, peaceful with wonderful views and places to walk along the loch Food was excellent breakfast included Dinner was well presented and great quality The staff were very efficient and friendly

Pros: A well maintained cozy hotel with the nicest staff. Breakfast was well prepared with flexibility on orders

Cons: Location: only if you are planning to travel north then you'll need to go south around Loch Lomond.
