A lovely Scottish break!

Pros: It’s a perfect Scottish getaway. The staff were the most friendly and super helpful. As soon as we arrived they did everything for us making sure we were relaxing from the moment we walked in. Valet service was great. The restaurants and bars are great with lots of variety different vibes and live music. Beautiful grounds to wander.

Cons: The rooms were super dark there wasn’t even a light in the shower. The bathrooms are quite dated and in our room our bed was quite small. The adults only spa is not on site it’s about a 10 minute drive away so you just factor this time in. There is a shuttle to take you if you cannot drive which is great. The pool area on the hotel is really catered for children.

Pros: The place is exceptional. Lovely location, great food, polite staff, great atmosphere in the tavern, swimming pool and facilities were great too.

Cons: Tiny things: maybe more info could be provided at check-in for locating facilities and opening times of various places. There's a children's pool and a separate pool. It can be a bit of an inconvenience when you go for a swim, but can't really swim anywhere because a small group of a few younger people are taking up most of the pool by playing volleyball. These in no way, however, detract from the 10 rating as the place is exceptional.

Fabulous, picturesque, grand, but go elsewhere for your dinner.

Pros: The room was lovely and comfortable. The front of house staff were friendly and welcoming. I feel they would all go above and beyond to help. I didn’t ask for any special assistance but I knew it was there if need be. At breakfast, the food choices were extensive and there was something for everyone. Everything looked fresh and delicious. The grounds are beautiful and the views are picturesque.

Cons: We visited The Grill restaurant and I honestly didn’t really enjoy the food. I didn’t feel it was good value for money considering I’ve had better food at less established places with a lower price point. The soufflé was small and rubbery, the seasoned fries were extremely salty. When they asked how I I was enjoying my food, I said it was OK with a slightly indifferent look on my face but they didn’t want to read deeper into that. My husband had an issue with his steak being undercooked, he asked for medium and received med/rare. When he gently explained this they didn’t seem to care too much and took back his plate with half eaten steak while smiling and pretending not to notice. However I will say the sourdough bread was superb! There’s not much else I can fault with the hotel, the food was my only gripe.
