In Edinburgh’s Old Town, Castle Rock Hostel - Adults Only is conveniently located 11 minutes’ walk from Waverley Train Station, and 3 minutes from Grassmarket and Edinburgh Castle. In a 19th-century building decorated with art, this adult-only property has colourful dormitories and free WiFi access. The hostel offers accommodation exclusively for guests aged 18 years and older. Dormitories feature bunk beds with bedside lockers and have use of shared bathroom facilities with showers. There is a cosy lounge with a piano and large sofas by the fireplace, a movie room with big screen and an internet lounge with WiFi. Breakfast is unfortunately not available at the moment, but we have a large self catering kitchen for guest use. Laundry and luggage storage services are also offered. This hostel is around 5 minutes’ walk from Princes Street Gardens, The Scottish National Gallery and the National Museum of Scotland. It is also a pick-up point for free walking tours around the city. Continental breakfast is available each morning from 7:30 until 10:30 for £4. At check in, we will require a refundable key deposit of either £10 cash or a form a government ID.

A cute and wonderful experience. It feels the establishment wants you to have a good time and cares

Pros: How efficient, polite and friendly staff were. The place feels relaxed but disciplined at the same time.

Cons: The mattress was a bit flat and it would be nice to have a curtain around the bunks especially for solo travellers.

We really enjoyed staying at this hostel, everyone was super nice!

Pros: The hostel has a great location. There is a big kitchen and a cozy common room where you can enjoy tea or coffee.

Cons: Our 4-bed bedroom was really small and there was little space to put your things.

Great location

Pros: The location is excellent and the price is reasonable.

Cons: My “fresh” bed had someone’s long black hair. The showers were dirty even in the early morning. I also don't recommend the breakfast. A piece of bread with jam and some cereal isn't worth even those £4.

Sleeping as a honoured guest of a castle

Pros: The staff are amazing, friendly and helpful. The facilities are amazing and even being a middle aged man, I did not feel unwelcome. Would recommend this hostel so everyone

Cons: Place can be a bit tricky to navigate at first, but a bit of exploration and it comes together. Only wish I was not going home so soon so that I could experience more of the hostel events.

Pros: Excellent location, overall clean, friendly staff. The building is very cool looking, right next to the castle and Royal Mile.

Cons: Even though I saw people cleaning often, it also got dirty very quickly. The cleaning wasn't very detailed. The place is very cold.

Excellent stay at The Rock!!

Pros: Fantastic staff that really connects with their guests. Beds were solid and comfortable. No squeaking and mattress' and pillows were soft. Bathrooms were clean and all social areas were tidy and welcoming.

Cons: The breakfasts were a little lacking but for 4 pounds I really can't complain

Pros: I liked everything about Castle Rock hostel, the place is very big, with gianormous rooms and high ceilings. I especially enjoyed the salons and lounging areas, so cosy! Friendly staff, clean sheets and absolutely amazing location, right next to the Castle.
