Pros: Quirky, historic, great location and comfortable bed

Cons: Noise from room above. Breakfast didn’t look good value.

The perfect hotel!

Pros: The location is perfect: it is near all the major attractions such as the popular bars and restaurants. They also kept our luggage secured as we arrived early. Thank you! We will definitely be back again!

A beautiful and atmospheric hotel with real character, let down at times by inconsistent service, but redeemed by though

Pros: The building itself is beautiful, full of character, history, and traditional Scottish charm. Staying there genuinely felt special and very “Edinburgh.” \t•\tThe interiors are elegant and atmospheric, with lovely period details that give the hotel a warm, classic feel. \t•\tOur room was clean, comfortable, and well presented, making it easy to relax after long days exploring the city. \t•\tThe location is excellent — central but quiet — allowing easy access to the city while still feeling calm and tucked away.

Cons: - Our arrival late at night after a very long journey was disappointing. We struggled with our luggage at the entrance and did not feel particularly welcomed or assisted by the staff member on duty. - There were some service inconsistencies during our stay that did not meet expectations for a hotel of this standard. - Breakfast on the first morning did not reflect the overall quality or price point of the property, and this was ultimately acknowledged by management. - Despite some issues during our stay, the reception manager was professional, kind, and proactive in resolving matters, which we appreciated.

Excellent appearances, pleasant staff, bit of a maze and lucky dip when it comes to rooms

Pros: Very traditional, high class Edinburgh hotel. Felt like sleeping in a landmark.

Cons: I was awoken at 5:30am by 5 wheelie bins being dragged up stone stairs right outside my window (Room 25). Do not accept that room on a Thursday night 🥲. The receptionist didn’t have much to say when I told them in the morning which was also disappointing.

A Lovely Well Positioned Hotel for Visiting Edinburgh.

Pros: The proximity to The Castle and Christmas Fair was excellent. The reception staff were welcoming and helpful. Our room was very comfortable and well equipped with plenty of tea/ coffee and biscuits. The bathroom was also supplied with lovely bath/ shower gel and helpful accessories. Lovely breakfast.

Cons: Probably wouldn’t choose the lower rooms next time but that’s just personal choice.

Traditional classic luxury in a lovely part of town.

Pros: Absolutely stunning room in a beautiful building. The distance to town was perfect and a gentle walk along the road was a great way to start the day.

Pros: We only had breakfast The service was very good and all staff friendly. All requests were met with professional manner and expedited promptly. Good choice of menu and all very good

Cons: Small thing pot of tea not always hot or enough for 3 people

Pros: Lovely and safe part of town, close enough to public transport and restaurants as well as old town and still relaxing and quiet . Loved the specious room and it felt very private although a hotel :). Very professional and friendly staff , felt safe at all times :)

Cons: I liked everything :), but please buy a hand luggage scale for your guests suitcases :)
