Lovely cosy stay

Pros: Had a lovely time. Travelled with a group of friends and the chestnut lodge was the perfect layout for socialising and cosy nights in. Very clean and great showers! There were a few other people staying in the other lodges and I was slightly worried about noise but honestly it was fine! Didn’t hear a thing.

Cons: Beds were slightly on the hard side.

Great nature spot, spacious bedrooms, cramped kitchen and seating, in need of some TLC

Pros: The group really enjoyed the location and the walks from the property. One of the main aims was to get back into nature and this location made it very easy to do. It is also close to Killin although walking to the town along the road is not recommend it is easily commutable by car from the lodge. The Chestnut lodge had 2 fully equipped bathrooms and for my group this was an excellent thing to have. Even though some of the heating didn't work in some rooms the place does heat up really quickly with what is there. The bedrooms were excellent well sized and each room had a closet which was very useful for us to avoid clutter in the rooms. The group would love to come back even with some of the issues mentioned.

Cons: As I was the organiser of the group and preparing the food for the group I didn't find the lodge kitchen easy to use. There wasn't storage for the food and no space for equipment (slow cooker and bread machine) and the utensils were for me bare minimum and not intuitively placed. The cutting board was glass and we only found it after asking the owners. The extractor fan didn't work which means when preparing food everything steamed up. There were no instructions for the dishwasher, and the instruction on the machine had disappeared from use. We did figure it out in the end. The couching in the sitting room was difficult to get up from as it were sagging and smelled like wet dog. Generally the place needs some TLC - the bedrooms however were excellent. Heating in one of the bathrooms didn't work and the other was so hot it takes off skin. The interior (front) door is difficult to close and is very noisy as it suddenly pulls lose once you pull with force and rattles the structure of the whole lodge. If you are baking bread with a machine this is a problem and sets you back in your food prep by 3 hours. Again minor things but annoying when having to compensate for other things like the kitchen, space and the electricity (additional charge and resetting) and it suddenly going out.

Comfortable, clean, lovely location and great value stay.

Pros: Spacious, comfortable, clean. Nice location with a few things to do on site and some nice walks nearby. Well equipped, good value, convenient parking right outside, very peaceful location. We met the owner when we arrived- she was very friendly and welcoming.

Cons: Not the most modern decor ever, and remembering to top up the electricity meter was a minor inconvenience.

Pros: Great location and excellent value for money and very welcoming host.

Cons: Council should invest in a walkway/cycle path into Killin, and there is a shortage of venues for eating out.

Pros: Lodge was very clean and tidy. Stayed in the large 4 bedroom one plenty of space to move around. Great location to explore. Co-op in village 2 min away, which was great. The Owners were lovely, nothing a problem. Very dog friendly 🐕

Cons: It was slightly dated, but due to be modernised. A hairdryer was meant to be in the cabin, but I couldn't find it ! The Tv was too high ( sore neck )
