Castle Gogar Cottage

Lovely cottage!

Pros: The cottage was lovely! Beautiful place, great location with an easy walk to the tram, comfortable beds, and lovely to have the lounge/kitchen space to socialise etc

Cons: The neighbours dogs startled us when we checked in, as we had arrived fairly late from a show, they then took hours to settle down and stop barking - just pre-warn guests of this in the future :)

Relaxing, comfortable and peaceful

Pros: The location is excellent, with easy access to the city centre and to all major routes, but still quiet and secluded. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

A chance to stay in a gorgeous historical property. We loved it

Pros: We loved the cottage which catered for 2 couples perfectly allowing for privacy and shared space. It was equipped very well and clean. Decoratively it was gorgeous. Gogar Castle and its surrounds were simply stunning and allowed us to have the grandeur of such a beautiful space. The drive in is just lovely.

Pros: Everything! Thoughtful attention to detail, comfort, cleanliness, quality of furnishings, comfort of beds, location (handy for public transport into the city), beautiful grounds, nice glassware and crockery... We've booked many, many hotels, apartments and B&Bs over the years, and this is the nicest place we've come across to date

Cons: Nothing. Oh okay then, a teapot and a clothes horse would have been useful. They may have been there (the cottage was very well equipped) but we didn't find them. There was a pod coffee machine, ironing boards and washing machine, so the above is REALLY nitpicking. We asked this place and would definitely stay there again.

Was an amazing get away for a long weekend

Pros: The property was well kept and just an amazing building

Edinburgh has a new landmark attraction - Castle Gogar!

Pros: Luxuriously furnished cottage next to a beautiful castle with gorgeous grounds. Spotless, spacious and very comfortable. Two tram stops from airport and a lovely ten minute walk to reach the property. Easy access to city centre by tram or bus within twenty minutes. Loved our short stay. Host is thoughtful and generous in providing for the comfort of guests.

Cons: Nothing, wished we could stay longer.

Despite not having the password for internet access I would still recommend this cottage. Warm, cozy

Pros: The cottage was very well appointed and mostly clean. We liked the extra shower room and toilet allowing our guests to have the upstairs shower room to themselves. The gardens were beautiful, we could hear birds singing, it was like being in the countryside even though next to an airport. Beautifully furnished inside.

Cons: We had no internet access and there was no iron even though there were 2 iron boards? We tried contacting the owner using a phone number we were given but only got a non responsive answering machine and no response to ringing the next door bell. Not having someone to greet us on arrival was understandable, but we had trouble finding the key and some written information about the cottage would have been helpful, (such as the password for the internet). There were some small white hairs in the bed linen we spent time picking out of the bed. We suspected a dog had been sleeping on the bed?

Short stay before flying home

Pros: It is a very nice, quiet location. Close to the Airport, also easy to get into the city by tram. Rooms are nice kitchen and living area both beautiful! Tge owners are friendly and helpful people! They make everything to feel good!

Pros: An interesting well maintained property well worth while a stay.

Cons: The steps - need to be careful as very steep leading to a small landing.

Pros: The location is very convenient, a clean well decorated place to stay The host was available via phone to sort out out late arrival, she turned on heating etc so it was cosy on our arrival.
