Pity about the weather!

Pros: Beautifully decorated and furnished Georgian manse with a lovely lounge with marvellous view. Evening meal and breakfast were really outstanding and served in an attractive dining room with great staff. Our room was very comfortable and quiet, the shower room was excellent.

Cons: Not Pennygate Lodge's fault in itself but our visit to Mull was blighted by the exceptionally bad weather which meant that the 4pm check in time felt a bit late. We rang to ask if we could check in half an hour earlier , no answer so left a message. Had been out in torrential rain so sat and steamed our waterpoofs dry in the car till 4pm. Arrived cold and tired so it was disappointing that the radiator in the room didn't work though Tony quickly provided us with a fan heater. It turned out fortunate that hosts warned us of potential ferry cancellations due to storm Amy but the information being provided at the breakfast table somewhat spoilt our enjoyment of the meal. We took the decision to leave a day early ahead of the storm's arrival thus losing the cost of our second night and forgoing the pleasure of a second lovely evening meal and a further breakfast. Craignure is a functional rather than attractive place but seen through torrential rain didn't help!

Fantastic place to stay and eat & enjoy Isle of Mull

Pros: Beautifully renovated lodge with lovely garden and great food! We were enjoying sunsets in the garden a lot while sipping wine and chatting to Tonny - the owner. Highly recommend this place & Isle of Mull to those who prefer quiet holidays. We loved it!

Cons: Restaurant servers meals Tuesday - Saturday only (food is excellent btw) so Sunday/Monday we had to make different arrangements for dinner which was bit bothering. But we were offered sandwiches during days restaurant was closed.

We loved this guesthouse. Great location, excellent food.

Pros: Breakfast was excellent. Dinner had a limited menu but was also excellent. Staff were very friendly, highly competent and extremely helpful. We had a lovely room overlooking the ferry port, highly recommended. Location is also good for visiting north of the island and also a trip to Iona.

Cons: The restaurant does not operate on Sunday evening. Whilst we understand the staff need a rest, other dining options in the area are very limited. If you plan to stay on a Sunday, need to make plans on where to dine outside the guesthouse.

A beautiful setting for a relaxing stay

Pros: Breakfast was good and the homemade granola was very special. The Lodge is set in beautiful gardens about 10 minutes walk from the ferry terminal. There is a lovely lounge, well furnished and with some great paintings. The view over the garden and the sea is stunning. Our room was spacious and comfortable with the same view. The owners were very welcoming and did all they could to make our stay comfortable.

Cons: Brighter reading lights for ageing eyes would be very helpful

Pros: The restaurant was trust excellent with friendly service. I asjes for wine recommendations which were great. We did not finish the bottel but no problem it was kept for us for the next day! Very cosy rooms, luxurious finishing. People have thought this through. View on harbour from the large lounge. .

Cons: All was good for us
