A quiet retreat

Pros: Loved the location, the castle was stunning. So clean and well stocked.

Hogmanay in Hallbar Tower (Braidwood Castle)

Pros: Staying in the tower was a very unique experience. The tower has been very tastefully restored. A couple of us managed to see deer in the garden right outside the tower. Lovely welcome pack on arrival too.

Cons: The stone stairs were a challenge, but what we expected from previous reviews read. Individual rooms were able to be kept warm (with storage heaters) & log burner in the lounge, but with the building being so old, it was difficult to keep the staircase warm! We found the beds (in both double rooms) harder/firmer than we were used to. Suggestion for future guests would be to possibly include a pint of milk in the welcome pack.
